2012

So I have been away from this for a while.
In the time that has passed I've successfully finished two degrees, started full time work, travelled many places, met many more people and shot a whole lot more.
I've been building my website for a while now and rethinking the blog as well.
While that's underway I'll still post some things here for people to look at.

Stay tuned.

Performing

Have a look here for some shots I did of Friends With Deficits. An eerily beautiful performance...

Wonder

I love sky streaks. Looking momentarily to find something that is so fleeting and wondering how many people saw that?

This scan doesn't do this image as much justice as it deserves, this sky streak is pretty special.

Return

I haven't posted anything for a while as I was away in Eastern Europe. I made lots of discoveries overseas especially about photography. Everyone always talks about different countries and their light but it's very true.

Looking back on these images I think about the strangeness of being in a country where you don't speak the language. I think these images in the next few posts reflect that alien identity.

Summer moments

I'm participating in an exhibition in Bondi called Summer Moments.

I am exhibiting two works taken in the area using my Diana.
I think they capture the harsh Australian light and the roughness and beauty of the ocean. If you're going for a swim down that way, come have a look.

Sacred Spaces

For the last year I have been working on a body of work for the completion of my Fine Arts Degree.

Below are images of the work in situ and shows the completed body of work as well as me at the opening night!

This is the synopsis that appeared in the catalogue:

"Focus on the landscape, seeing beyond the blades of grass. These are evocative and ethereal works that challenge the viewer to see beyond the physical, finding what they consider to be their 'sacred space', a place made up of memories, journeys and places already travelled. 'Sacred Spaces' is a yearlong project of self-exploration and visualisation. Laura has come to create a self-reflective body of work that contains spaces not just restricted to what the human eye can see. Laura's aim is to trigger something within the viewer that will take them to their 'sacred space' whether mentally or physically."
